Off to a CRAZY START!
Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps has been working hard to improve infrastructure, build a high quality staff and design our newest production. The 2020 Audition experience has been announced. A lot of information is posted on both our Facebook and Instagram account. Lets kick off another strong year with the Zany Black and Yellow!
On January 21st a major blow was struck to a non-profit youth group when robbers stole roughly $25,000 worth of equipment. The robbers rented a storage unit at A-American self storage in Santa Fe Springs, California. On January 21st they entered their unit and closed the door concealing their work. Using hammers, they broke through the walls of their rented unit to raid 6 adjoining units in order to steal the contents. Upon entering Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps storage unit, they found 2 thump subwoofers, 2 Mackie SP1530s, 1 Yamaha 32 channel mixer, 3 Adams timpani, a djembe, a Remo bass drum and a haul of miscellaneous percussion hardware. They returned later in the evening, cutting the lock on Impulse’s storage unit in order to load the large equipment into their vehicles and fled the scene. Police are currently investigating the robbery.
Since 1999 Impulse Drum and Bugle corps has provided a safe, fun, youth centered summer marching experience to students ranging from ages 14 to 21. They are a 501c3 non-profit and most of their staff and support are volunteers. They have traveled the nation competing in Drum Corps International, obtaining many awards and a national championship in 2006. Impulse has served thousands of talented young musicians in its 20 years of existence. Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps is a relatively small musical group every piece of equipment plays an important role. Aaron Zeilinger is an Alumni of the organization and currently serves as the Director. He has this to say about the incident, “The current Impulse family will be hit hard by this loss. The equipment that was stolen we were working on selling to support our members and repair some needed items in the corps. As with all trials, I know the Impulse family will come together and we will make sure our 2019 members will still have an educational, exciting and zany experience this summer.” Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps will do the best it can to raise funds for the missing equipment but they need a little assistance. They have currently set up a GoFundMe for any donations that could help them rebuild from this incident. https://www.gofundme.com/help-impulse-replace-stolen-equipment?member=1556496 If anyone has any questions, please email Aaron Zeilinger at [email protected]

Impulse has one of the greatest truck drivers around. He marched contra with the Kingsmen and just loves the activity. We are lucky to have him driving our equipment around the country. After a great opening weekend for Impulse, the corps has been working hard on their show preparing for this weekend's California Mini Tour. New members have been added and the show is coming along great as we work towards Open Class Finals in Michigan City.
July 14-16, Impulse will head out on their California Mini Tour. We will be departing from the Fullerton train station at 10am on the 14th heading to Bakersfield College, the first of 3 shows days in a row. We have overnight accommodations in Taft Friday night. On Saturday, we will have a morning rehearsal block before heading south to Orange Glenn High School in Escondido. After the show, the bus will return to the Fullerton train station. We will wrap up the weekend with our home show, the SoCal Classic. For information about the SoCal Classic, or to purchase tickets, go to the So-Cal Classic page.
