Experience Impulse ONE-Day: January 9, 2027

The official gateway to our 2027 season is Impulse ONE-Day, scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2027, at Valley Christian High School in Cerritos, California.

Rather than a high-pressure evaluation, ONE-Day is structured as a full-day, hands-on educational workshop. Attendees spend the day working directly with our educational staff, learning technique, meeting fellow performers, and experiencing what it feels like to rehearse and grow with the Impulse family.

What to expect and who should attend

We are actively seeking talented, motivated young musicians, percussionists, color guard performers, and dancers ages 14 to 21.

If you are wondering whether you are ready, remember that you do not need to arrive with every answer. All you need is curiosity, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn alongside people who want to see you succeed.

Over the coming weeks, we will also begin unveiling our 2027 Administrative Team, Design Team, and Caption Leadership. Our instructional staff is eager to meet you, work with you in sectionals, and help you take the next step in your performing arts journey.

Take the first step

Doors open at 9:00 AM on January 9. If you or someone you know is ready for an extraordinary summer of performance, travel, and personal growth, we invite you to join us.

The 2026 season is complete, but the impact of this summer will stay with the members of Impulse long after the final note.

This year, Impulse brought “Around the Table” to fields across the West—a production inspired by family game night and the memories made when people come together. Through moments of competition, conflict, laughter, reconciliation, and community, the show invited audiences to recognize something familiar: the people around us matter, and the experiences we share can shape us for a lifetime.

For our members, that message was not just part of the production. It was the season.
From the first rehearsals through the final performances in Buena Park, this corps grew in ways that reached far beyond the field. Students met demanding expectations from their instructional staff, learned to trust one another, and discovered what they could accomplish through consistency, accountability, and hard work. They traveled together, performed in new places, supported one another through long days, and kept rising to the challenge each time they stepped onto the field.

The result was a season full of meaningful milestones. The corps built momentum with every performance, bringing greater confidence, maturity, energy, and connection to Around the Table as the summer progressed. From early tour stops in the Northwest to performances in Northern and Southern California, Impulse continued to find new levels of excellence. By the final stretch of the season, the performers were delivering some of their strongest and most connected performances yet.

The final California performances were especially meaningful. At SoCal Classic in Buena Park, the corps had the opportunity to perform in front of a powerful home crowd and close the California portion of the season surrounded by family, friends, alumni, volunteers, and supporters. At the Rose Bowl and during the final performances of the season, the members showed how far they had come—not only as musicians and performers, but as young people who had learned to lead, adapt, persevere, and believe in each other.

More Than a Show

Impulse Youth Arts Organization exists to grow young people into future leaders through the arts. In 2026, that mission was visible in every rehearsal block, bus ride, meal break, performance, and post-show conversation.

The students who took the field this summer learned what it means to arrive prepared, accept feedback, hold themselves to a high standard, and contribute to something bigger than themselves. They experienced the pride that comes from doing difficult things well. They learned that progress is not always immediate, but that focused effort—repeated day after day—creates real change.

For our age-outs, this season marked the end of a chapter and the beginning of another. Their leadership, resilience, and care for the corps helped shape the culture of the 2026 season. For returning members, the lessons and memories of this summer will become a foundation for what comes next. For every first-year performer, 2026 was an introduction to a community that will continue to challenge and support them.

Thank You, Impulse Family

A season like this is never built by members alone.

Thank you to our instructional staff and leadership team for setting high expectations and helping students rise to meet them. Your commitment to excellence, education, and the well-being of every performer shaped this season from beginning to end.

Thank you to our volunteers, who gave their time, energy, care, and countless behind-the-scenes hours to keep the corps fed, prepared, supported, and moving forward. From transportation and food service to uniforms, logistics, equipment, and show-day operations, your work made the experience possible.

Thank you to our families for trusting Impulse with your students, supporting their growth, and cheering them on through every mile of the journey.

Thank you to our alumni and community supporters for continuing to stand behind the next generation of performers. Your presence in the stands, your encouragement, and your belief in the students help carry the legacy of Impulse forward.

And thank you to every donor who sponsored a meal, covered miles on the road, contributed to tour expenses, purchased tickets, attended SoCal Classic, or made a gift in support of IYAO. Your generosity helped create the opportunity for students to learn, perform, travel, and build memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on Around the Table, we are filled with gratitude—not just for the performances, but for the relationships and personal growth that made the season meaningful.

The 2026 corps reminded us that growth happens when young people are given a challenge, a community, and people who believe in them. This season began around a table, with a story about games and family. It ended with a corps that had become stronger together.

Thank you for being part of the 2026 Impulse season. The final performance may be behind us, but the growth, leadership, and community built this summer will continue to move forward.

Once Impulse, always Impulse.

The 2026 summer tour has officially begun for Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps, and that means the season is no longer something being imagined in rehearsal blocks or talked about in planning meetings. The buses are rolling, the equipment is packed, and the corps is stepping into the part of the summer where all of the preparation turns into performances, memories, and momentum.

This season’s journey is captured perfectly in the new board-game-style tour graphic, designed by Sophia Wilhelm, which maps the summer like a path around the table. It is a playful visual tie to Around the Table and a reminder that every stop on tour is part of a larger story the corps is building together. Follow the Impulse’s 2026 tour performances and travel throughout the Pacific Northwest and California, with the season building toward key summer appearances including SoCal Classic home show. The graphic gives supporters a fun way to follow each stop while also highlighting just how much coordination, transportation, food, and community support it takes to move a drum corps through the summer.

Support the corps as the corps hits the road, there are several direct ways to help make the tour possible.
Every ticket purchased, every meal sponsored, every snack donated, and every mile supported helps students stay on the road and keep learning through the drum corps experience.

Doors for the Family & Friends Dinner open at 6:00 PM, with dinner service beginning at 6:30 PM in the Valley Christian campus dining area. Guests will enjoy a pasta dinner and time to connect with current members, fellow families, alumni, staff, and board members in a relaxed setting. At 8:00 PM, the action moves to the stadium at Valley Christian, where Impulse will present a special preview of Around the Table for assembled guests. The corps’ 2026 production has been described as a musical journey through the ups and downs of game night, from light‑hearted competition and occasional conflict to the ultimate reminder that what matters most is the people gathered around the table. For many families and alumni, the Family & Friends Dinner offers the first chance to see this new program performed live before the corps heads into its summer schedule.

]]><![CDATA[2026 Impulse DBC staff]]>Wed, 06 May 2026 19:42:38 GMThttps://www.impulseyoutharts.org/impulse-news/2026-impulse-dbc-staffEvery successful drum corps season starts long before the first note is played or the first step is taken on the field. It begins with the people who plan the calendar, manage communication, handle logistics, support members and families, and make sure the corps can focus on performing at its best. For 2026, Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps is proud to introduce the administrative team helping guide our “Around the Table” season.

This year’s admin staff brings a mix of long‑time Impulse leadership and new faces who share a commitment to youth, education, and healthy drum corps. From coordinating rehearsals and travel to managing member experience and parent communication, this team will be working behind the scenes every single day to keep the organization running smoothly. Together, this group is responsible for “setting the table” for everything that happens on the field. Their work makes it possible for members to grow, for staff to teach, and for families and fans to enjoy the 2026 season from the stands.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting each area of the staff—music, visual, guard, percussion, and more—so you can get to know the people bringing Around the Table to life. For now, we invite alumni, parents, and friends to help us welcome the 2026 admin team and to thank them for the countless hours they will invest in Impulse this year.

If you’d like to stay updated on staff features, show news, and ways to support Impulse Youth Arts Organization, you can join our email list or follow us on social media. The 2026 journey has officially begun, and we’re grateful to have this admin team leading the way.

This season, our community came together in a big way. Through our recent Vertical Raise fundraising campaign, supporters contributed $14,509.50, and every dollar went directly into supporting Impulse to help cover costs for the 2026 Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps season.

Most importantly, this campaign was a reminder of how many people believe in these young performers. The messages left, the shares on social media, and the encouragement from all corners of our community told members, “You are worth investing in.”

To everyone who gave, shared, or cheered this effort on: thank you. Your generosity helped put real support directly into our season. As the 2026 season unfolds, every performance of Around the Table will carry a little piece of that support out onto the field.
