We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
What is the age limit to march with Impulse? All performing members must be between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age.
How is it different from marching band? The group is made up of only trumpets (sopranos), mellophones (altos), baritones, contras (tubas), battery (marching cymbals, snares, and basses), front ensemble unusually known as the pit/auxiliary percussion and flag the colorguard which is made up of Flags and weapons which are normally Rifles and Sabers.
Do you require experience? All levels of experience are welcome; our staff is willing and able to teach all of the skills needed to be successful.
What if I don’t play a brass instrument or if I only play trombone? If you are willing to learn to play a brass instrument, our staff is willing to teach you any of the above mentioned instruments. If you play trombone, you can play baritone. A baritone has valves instead of a slide. This transition will be facilitated by our staff that is very willing to help you.
When do you meet? We meet two weekends a month during the school year, once school gets out (June) we meet every day.
What is tour? Every summer the corps travels and performs across the Untied States. The tour includes all transportation (chartered buses), meals, and housing.
What does it cost? The cost varies from year to year. However, Impulse always offers lots of fundraising opportunities to its membership.
Will this interfere with my school activities (Band, Colorguard, Sports, Dance, etc.)The group meets on weekends and mostly in the spring, after marching season. The corps will also work with any person if a conflict arises. School activities take priority.
