Impulse is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in marching music & pageantry. As a perennial finalist in the Drum Corps International Division II & III (now open class) Championships, Impulse has set a standard for performance and competitive excellence in the Drum & Bugle Corps activity of Southern California. The Members involved in our units have as much enjoyment performing as the audience has watching their performances. Our unique combination of performance excellence and fun sets us apart from the rest, and defines us as... IMPULSE!
Impulse completed another round of successful Audition programs on January 22nd and 29th for all sections in preperation of the 2012 DCI marching season. The percussion section led by Niko Jasniewicz concluded its 2nd round of call backs. According to Niko, the battery positions should be set by the February camps. The brass section led by Jeff McGinnis is looking strong but still has open slots in the mellophone and soprano sections. Guard instructor Nathan Ortiz will be holding a final round of guard auditions at the conclusion of winter guard activities in April.
According to Executive Corps Director Mike Lopez, the show concept for 2012 includes one of the most chalenging horn books that Impulse has attempted in many years. "This show design falls right in line with the direction of the revised DCI judging criteria for 2012, which puts a heavy emphasis on entertaining the crowd," said Mike Lopez.
Impulse will be holding its first rehearsal on February 12th. Anyone interested in trying out for one of the open horn line positions is encouraged to attend.
